On several occasions, management had 2-3 members of their staff searching guests' bags upon entry to ensure no outside food was admitted. However, our children wanted their own snacks not the restaurant food. I assume the reason management was so strict was so that they could sell more food from their pool restaurant. Every pool we have every belonged to has allowed outside food. The staff wouldn't allow anyone to bring snacks into the waterpark area even for family's like ours with small children. The big issue was the waterpark management. Our house and private pool met all of our expectations. The waterpark was beautiful and had a variety of slides. We visited with a party of 10 including 5 young children The property was well-maintained, and there were sidewalks everywhere. However the way they handle guest issues is unfortunate because it taints the entire experience.… Unacceptable The actual accommodations are beautiful. They said they would get a new one to us but that didn’t happen until a second call to guest services and it took two days. Our coffee maker was not working and we let them know immediately. Basically they get your money and then you become a non-priority. Although the villas are great, do NOT count on them to fix anything once you check-in.I would pass on this option as there are a lot of meal delivery options and lots of great restaurants in the surrounding area. Fins restaurant is overpriced and not very good.DO NOT leave the front desk without this being definitively resolved!!! The guard shack did not operate with any semblance of urgency and didn’t give a rip that we sat outside of the gate for 5 minutes each time we came back. No matter how we tried to resolve this, we wasted precious time just trying to get back to our villa. The QR code delivery system was not working when we arrived and as a result we waited a long time to be let in the resort for the first two days we were there. You need a QR code to get in and out of the gates.Villas are beautiful and well-maintained but the Encore management is terrible! We had one issue after another that did not get resolved until we were leaving. Other than that little blip, perfect stay□□… He went and got one and offered to clear the grass himself, I told him that it was no problem and I did it. I told the gentleman that all I needed was a net and that I would clear the grass myself. I rang the reception team and told them and within minutes one of their team came out, took photos and was very apologetic and explained that a third party contractor cuts the grass and that he would take it up with them to get it cleaned. If we had a net, we would have cleared it. In fact the stay was fantastic at Encore and the only minor issue we had was one day when we got back from Disney, we were going to go into the pool, but the grass had been cut and the grass was floating all over the top. We were across the road from the main site where the water park was, but this was no problem as when there’s so many theme parks to visit, it was nice to come back to the peace and tranquillity of the Villa and have a dip in our own pool. It was a smooth check in and when we got to the Villa (7402 Marker Avenue) we were met by one of the Encore staff who showed us around and explained the workings of everything, pool lights, A.C., and where to call if we had any issues. We booked a Villa at Encore through TUI and having read some of the reviews, we wondered what was in store for us when we arrived. 8/19/2023 0 Comments Travis bagwell next bookAmongst many things he discusses the endless battle of good against evil, whether the idea that sacrificing the few for the needs of the many is acceptable, if the end always justifies the means, what it means to be in a position power, the powerful drive that is retribution, and that’s just for starters. In addition to that, Bagwell does a marvelous job once again at discussing interesting philosophical concepts and depicting the complicated layers of emotions hiding beneath the characters’ surfaces. These moments certainly don’t dominate the book by any stretch of the imagination their appearances are strategic and carefully-timed, making them much more bearable in my opinion. If it’s something that bothers you, there is always the option of skipping it. It is darker in its nature than the first one with the plot touching on some rather heavy and uncomfortable subjects, but they’re the kind that need to be discussed and can’t simply be ignored.Īdditionally, the level of gore and violence seems to have been ramped up a tiny bit, though I should add that it’s never gratuitous or deprived of meaningful context. One area in which this novel certainly doesn’t lack is weight (or heft, if you prefer). While all of that is happening Alexion has re-entered the game and, with nothing to lose, faces some very tough decisions as to how he wants to find his way back to the top. He doesn’t know it yet, but it’s only the beginning of a long chain of events that will ultimately bear a tremendous impact on the fate of his city. Thus he finds it’s his duty to return and rule over his people, which leads him on his first quest in this new position: to investigate the dark keep looming over the marketplace. However, after some debates with Alfred and personal deliberations, Jason decides that he should go back in… after all, he has been appointed the Regent of the Twilight Throne and is even the ruler of an undead city. It takes little to no time for things to pick up again as continue right where we ended last time, with Jason reluctant to re-enter the game after his victory against his rival Alexion. Thankfully he disappointed nobody with the second novel in the series, Awaken Online: Precipice, and some would argue that he even managed to out-do the original tour-de-force that the first book was. Though it might have been his first published novel, Awaken Online: Catharsis was a true work of art that garnered loads of attention in the literary community, and as a result all eyes were turned on him to see what he could produce in his second outing. 8/19/2023 0 Comments First skyscraper chicago 1885The newel-posts of the grand stairways rising on either side terminate in clusters of electric lights, and there is a great electrolier at the summit of the staircase. The floor is marble, the wainscoting is marble, with Mexican onyx pilasters, the walls are marble, the arched ceiling is marble, the bronzed stairs have marble steps, and throughout the ten-story pile the floors of all halls and the steps of all stairs are in marble, the material being the finest Italian, snowy as Carrara, and susceptible and often subjected to the highest polish. It is twenty-five feet wide, and rises through two stories, or nearly thirty feet. Chicago has no parallel for the greatness and dignity of this entrance, nor has this country unless in one or two New York instances. The sight would lengthen the days of the great Ruskin. The passerby who, busy as he may be and impelled along by the rushing throng, does not cast at least a second glance up through that vaulted entrance way and high-arched court of finest polished Italian marble, gleaming the whiter for the lace-work of blue steel festooning the entrance, and the bars of onyx and bronze relieving the marble vista-such a man deserves not to have eyes, and has none for the highest architectural art. Take it as a whole, the Home Building at the northeast corner of La Salle and Adams street, is the finest piece of architecture in Chicago, and as the past week witnessed its house-warming, i.e., its occupation as their Northwestern headquarters and local offices by the company who built it, The Inter Ocean improves the occasion to pay a passing tribute-to the building, for the company needs none. It is the company’s intention to make this a model office building, not losing sight of the fact that it is a commercial enterprise, and as in exterior design and interior plan the architect has been admirably successful, the renting of the building will be accomplished without trouble, as the demand for convenient office quarters will be fully met. The ironwork will be furnished by the Dearborn Foundry. The first story and basement will be of Jonesboro rose granite, with Tren¬ ton pressed brick and Vert Island red sandstone trimmings above. Work on the Home Fire Insurance building is progressing rapidly. Jenney, and that architect has, upon the orders of the company, let the cut stone and other contracts but while this architect’s designs are highly meritorious, and would give to the company a magnificent structure, no design has as yet been accepted. A permit to build was taken out upon the plans of architect W. They are representative men in the architectural profession, and it will be hard to choose, and when it is done it will be because of the fancy of the committee for some one design rather than because of any weakness in the others. The Building Committee of the Home Insurance Company of New York have been examining the designs of three different architects. Why the height of fire-proof buildings, however, should be interfered with is not evident.” Those who have considered this subject think that the ordinance should make it illegal to erect non-fire-proof buildings of more than sixty feet in height. The license was taken out rather prematurely because an ordinance is pending in the Council forbidding the erection of buildings more than 100 feet in height. It is too early to give a description of the plans, for many important points have hot yet been decided upon. Jenney, “will be strictly fire-proof and first-class in every respect. Jenney took out a permit yesterday to put up an eight-story and basement office structure, at the northeast corner of Adams and La Salle streets, to cost $300,000 for the Home Insurance Company of New York. The first slots within Big Fish Casino to use the new design are called Phoenix Rising, which are currently out on the iOS version of the game, but will be rolled out to Android, Amazon, PC and Facebook versions in due course. This marks a new design of slot machines within Big Fish Casino, which have an auto-spin function and what the company describes in flowery prose as “rich graphics, fiery animations and a full-screen interface that supports up to 25 lines of winning combinations”. Indeed, so important is the game that Big Fish is keen to talk up the addition of a new feature to the title, which contains different types of gambling - including slots, craps, blackjack, Texas Hold 'em poker, video poker and roulette.īut it’s slots where the money is to be made and that’s why Big Fish is so excited about the introduction of Luxury Slots. New players receive 100,000 free bonus virtual chips, and daily rewards are available for VIP players. One of the few companies to overcome this situation, however, is Big Fish Games, which has happily converted its female-focused casual gaming audience to players of Big Fish Casino, which is one of the top grossing mobile games in the US. The Big Fish Casino app offers over 100 social casino-style games, including virtual slots, table games, and tournaments. Play top free games that are full of challenges, rewards, and surprises. But partly that’s because even what’s referred to as ‘social casino’ seems more about bringing land-based casino brands into mobile than creating something new. You’ll be able to enjoy these games for free and spin the variety of goldfish slots anytime, anywhere. Partly that’s because of legislation - at least in terms of real-money gambling. In some respects, the mobile game industry has struggled to get to grips with gambling. There’s no Stackoverflow for Origami Studio, and I didn’t mind at all. This is partly because some of their blocks are quite general and powerful, and partly due to excellent attention-to-detail. Whenever I needed something, they almost always had a block for it. The library wasn't large, but it felt like they’ve thought of everything. In the following video we create such a node and demonstrate its workings by editing the node input values manually. It automatically detects variable names and converts them into inputs. Origami neatly solves this issue with a "Math Expression" node, which can evaluate any JavaScript math expression. Clearly a more compact notation is preferred. One of the common complaints of node-and-wire frameworks is that it can take dozens of nodes for a simple mathematical expression. We then attach the time patch to the height argument to show how seamlessly arguments can be used. In the following video we modify the default iOS button switch component to take an extra height argument and hook it up properly. Editing a component takes place on a seperate screen where the inputs are source patches. Components can accept inputs, which allow users of the component to modify those properties without worrying about the details. ComponentsĪbstraction is accomplished through components, which are a group of layers that behave like a single layer. In the following video we create a number of circles and spread them out visually by attaching the index port (multiplied by some factor) to the x and y properties of the circle layer. Another way to think of it: functional programming's map made intuitive. Instead of looping as a control-flow mechanism ("repeat these lines of code"), it allows for looping over objects. You merely attach the index output port of a loop patch into any property of a layer to duplicate the layer. Loops, one of the most confusing concepts for non-programmers, is made totally intuitive in Origami. It's so convenient to be able to examine changes instantly without having to re-build temporary state by hand each time. You can make a large number of changes to your prototype's logic without triggering a total refresh.
8/18/2023 0 Comments Used 2009 ford escapeFord engineers did a great job in uniqly calibrating the hybrid SUV compared to 2d generation Toyota hybrid using the most powerful high-voltage NiMH batteries and two el. And this is surprisingly disappointing for the highest Escape Hybrid trim. Of course, 2009-2012 model year (2d and last generation of Ford Escape Hybrid before discontinued) compared to the same model years of Toyota Highlander's hybrid, or Lexus hybrid SUV (the only market competition) is not as refined as ride, road noise, interior design even in highest trim - Limited I have. While Escape hybrid of latest production years was definitely tge leader, unmatched not only among the all not-luxury compact SUVs back then, but unmatched among all American brands. The Ford leadership's idea was to go after Prius replacing 2009-2012 Escape hybrid SUV with smaller C-max car, but later has never succeed to match Toyota hybrid. It's still one of a kind great hybrid machine, that Ford itself has never match after replacing it with 2013-2017 C-Max hybrid smaller compact hatchback. This 2009-12 latest Escape Hybrid model one day will be pronounced as highly regarded antic, one of a kind in American automotive industry. When had mainly a flat city driving trips I exceeded 40 mpg easily, while combining with driving up the hill - 34-35 mpg. Trips from the resident up on the hill down to the city the hybrid SUV registered 49-100 mpg depends whether I did so called "hypermiling" (light on the gas when starting from stop, coasting, keeping the speed just below 40 mph, etc), or usual driving. If I was to reside not on the steep hills that I needed to climb daily to come back home - I promise you my city mileage would have been much higher, without any special coasting hipermileage efforts.Īfter 6,000 mi driving on top of the acquired 50,700 mi I can report exceeding the EPA reported mileage of 31 mpg, respectively I did 35 mpg on Hwy and higher for city driving. I reached on regular basis - 36/34 mpg (city/hwy). My city/hwy mileage was all the time better than the original test-estimates listed for a new car (34/32 mpg). It speaks by itself, right, I paid out of the picket of $137 for this 60,000 major service, plus all other gas-consumption savings and having Partially-Zero emmissions, contributing to cleaner air. And notice, all that is after Escape hybrid SUV reached a major milestone, that udually requires for other behicle - major expensive service. Once per 10,000 mi intervals you need only a change of gasoline engine oil/filter and the filter of the HV-hybrid system. My own experience confirms this Ford dealers "secret" - my 2009 Escape hybrid Limited simply doesn't require any service going further. Ford also can't match the unprecedented built-in quality of 2009-2012 Escape hybrid vehicles yet. I have changed for this period only a single burned left-turn signal … bulb, and volontirely decide with some advance to replace the original set of tires with new Michelins, that's all ss out of wear-n-tear kind of ownership cost.Īfter the 60,000 mi service one of the Ford serviceman revealed that Ford delearships sort of do not care much about this SUV hybrid, since servicing this vehicle is not profitable for them - due to lack of any problems compared with the non-hybrid Escape, even compared with the newer one. I can report that after the first 10,000 mi I put on this used hybrid SUV I did not experienced any problem, any maintenance problem following with 10,000 mi recommended regular-scheduled manufacturing service. 2017 Update - after 10,000 miles and one year later of 2nd ownership since purchased as used (50,700 mi). |
